Charles Emerson was born in Devon, England in 1982. He studied BA Hons Photography at Falmouth College of Arts. His fine art work has been exhibited both in the UK and internationally. Charles also works for a number of commercial and editorial clients. Portfolio viewings are available upon request.
Charles is a fine art photographer who explores the creation of palimpsests by building layers within his work. Whether by using physical layers constructed in the studio, Flowers/Sky Studies, or capturing natural light on film and working the effects over digital images as in the Mountain works.
Charles grew up surrounded by his father’s paintings, etchings and sculptures and as a youngster aspired to be a painter himself. Instead Charles discovered his medium to be photography, but paintings are still his main influence when producing new work.
